It may feel like the dog days of Winter but Spring will soon be here, and if you've got a paint project on your mind, it's time to kick things into gear! The first step to turn your paint needs into a reality is to create an RFP (Request for Proposal). We know crafting an RFP can feel like a chore, and it’s hard to know where to start - luckily, Shaker Paintings got your back. We’re all too familiar with RFP’s that don't quite convey your vision, leading to endless follow up questions and back-and-forth with vendors. To save you time and stress, we’ve compiled a few essentials to follow when submitting your next RFP:
Don’t forget the basics! Don't be shy – we need your community's name and address, your name, and your contact information. Starting with the essentials gets us starting on the right track!
No Need for Deadline Drama - Set a bid due date and outline your timeline for getting the work completed, and we’ll do our best to keep up. The more explicit, the better!
Paint us a picture: Provide us with a detailed scope of work, and we'll whip up the most accurate estimate. One or two sentences requesting paint doesn’t quite give us enough information to bid a project. The more detailed you are, the less time you have to spend answering our follow up questions.
Let’s Talk Preferences: If you have a paint brand and colors in mind, let us know. The more specific you are, the better we can tailor our bid to your preference.
Provide us with a visual Roadmap: We like knowing where our paintbrush is headed. Share a map of your community with us so we can get a lay of the land and prepare a project walk.
A detailed and specific RFP will allow us to provide you with the most accurate bid, saving you time and money. If you’d like more guidance on RFP best practices take our fully accredited CAMICB continuing education course, “RFP & HOA Board Best Practices” which includes a free RFP template that can be used on any Capex project. So, what are you waiting for? Get your RFP together, and we’ll get painting!
